Power Equipment
Question by I Believe!: Did you hear about the little nothing of a people who took on the greatest super power the world?
had ever seen, and whipped them?
Yeah you see, the little people, (cant really call them a country cause they were nothing but a bunch of farmers, some merchants, and a few other trades folks) anyway, they went to war, and they fought to win. All the while the supper power did everything by the book, they fought by the rules of war, (what ever they might be) And you know what? This bunch of nobodies, went and beat the most powerful army with the most modern equipment, the words most powerful navy with the best ships money could buy and the best trained soldiers that had every held a gun. Why? Because they fought to win, and the superpower lost the war at home, before they ever surrendered on the battlefield. You see their own people, who were not even in the battle gave up on their own, not of failure on the part of troops, but because they never took the war serious. Now you might be thinking this sounds like what is happening today in Iraq, and you might be right, but it happened before, its world history, you studied it in school, but do you remember who these people where and who they became?

I have heard of them, the United States of America. So sad that we no longer remember our roots.

The colonists in the American Revolution. They then became the United States of America.
I’ll go out on a limb and say –
a. You’re talking about America
b. You’re trying to make some sort of political point here
This would be the revolutionary war, when the USA, as a country, gained its independence from England, the greatest country in the world at the time.
I would hazard a guess you’re talking about the American Revolution.
The American Revolution was won the same way revolutionaries always beat much stronger powers: making it so costly the superpower decides its not worth it anymore.
The farmers and merchants were British colonists in America. They stood and rebelled against oppression, then they were free, they were Americans.
I know what you are talking about. American Revolution, right? Colonists versus England? Those were different times where people were more willing to take risks. I think more people are risk-averse because they have been burned too many times. I know I feel this way. I have too much to lose. However, I will jump in and do whatever needs to be done to save our country if it comes to that and it might.
…yes, but the little people were fighting THEIR OWN WAR….the big country was way across the ocean and was quite imperialistic…..you are right if you are comparing us to England…Iraq is not not colonial America for us – current day United States…..
It would only sound like Iraq today if you have no clue as to what is going on in Iraq today. In America, the colonists were revolting against their own King for independence. In Iraq the people were being oppressed by their government and we Liberated them. Remember the joy as they toppled Saddam’s statues and images?
The Iraqi people are not resisting us in Iraq. It is only those who wish to replace the former tyrant with one of their own and outsiders who have a vested interest in preventing Iraq from becoming a democracy.
Apples and Oranges.
