Question by pirncess_tracy310: So what do you think about stimulus bill that is going to get pass.?
Remember, this economic stimulus bill is supposed to be used as a catalyst to re-start our economy. Period.
$ 1 billion for Amtrak, which hasn’t earned a profit in four decades.
$ 400 million for research into global warming.
$ 2.4 billion for projects to demonstrate how carbon greenhouse gas can be safely removed from the atmosphere.
Remember, this economic stimulus bill is supposed to be used as a catalyst to re-start our economy. Period.

Remember, this economic stimulus bill is supposed to be used as a catalyst to re-start our economy. Period.
$ 2.25 billion for national parks. This item has sparked calls for an investigation, because the chief lobbyist of the National Parks Association is the son of Rep. David R. Obey, D-Wisc. The $ 2,25 billion is about equal to the National Park Service’s entire annual budget. The Washington Times reports it is a threefold increase over what was originally proposed for parks in the stimulus bill. Obey is chairman of the House Appropriations Committee.
$ 335 million for treatment and prevention of sexually transmitted diseases.
$ 50 million for the National Endowment for the Arts. $ 4.19 billion to stave off foreclosures via the Neighborhood Stabilization Program. The bill allows nonprofits to compete with cities and states for $ 3.44 billion of the money, which means a substantial amount of it will be captured by ACORN, the controversial activist group currently under federal investigation for vote fraud. Another $ 750 million would be exclusively reserved for nonprofits such as ACORN – meaning cities and states are barred from receiving that money. Sen. David Vitter, R-La., charges the money could appear to be a “payoff” for the partisan political activities community groups in the last election cycle.
$ 44 million to renovate the headquarters building of the Agriculture Department.
Remember, this economic stimulus bill is supposed to be used as a catalyst to re-start our economy. Period.
$ 32 billion for a “smart electricity grid to minimize waste.
$ 87 billion of Medicaid funds, to aid states.
$ 53.4 billion for science facilities, high speed Internet, and miscellaneous energy and environmental programs.
Remember, this economic stimulus bill is supposed to be used as a catalyst to re-start our economy. Period.
$ 13 billion to repair and weatherize public housing, help the homeless, repair foreclosed homes.
$ 20 billion for quicker depreciation and write-offs for equipment.
$ 10.3 billion for tax credits to help families defray the cost of college tuition.
$ 20 billion over five years for an expanded food stamp program.
Remember, this economic stimulus bill is supposed to be used as a catalyst to re-start our economy. Period.
Now how about those earmarks…?

Question by Beam me up (: ] ): Are Americans going to loose more of their rights?
On Thursday, Fox News ran a segment on how declaration of a pandemic might result in a loss of constitutional rights. “If it becomes a pandemic, you could lose some simple rights — like going to the movies,” said host Steve Doocy, who completely understated the issue.
Here’s what Fox and the corporate media are not telling you — the government has a wide palette of dictatorial options ready to go: Executive Order 12919 (would put the United States under total martial law and military dictatorship), Executive Order 12656 (allows the government to increase domestic intelligence and surveillance of U.S. citizens and would restrict the freedom of movement within the United States and grant the government the right to isolate large groups of civilians), Executive Order 11921 (allows FEMA to “develop plans to establish control over the mechanisms of production and distribution, of energy sources, wages, salaries, credit and the flow of money in U.S. financial institution in any undefined national emergency”), and a blizzard of additional EOs allowing federal seizure of all communications media in the US, seizure of all electric power, fuels, minerals, public and private, seizure of all food supplies and resources, public and private and all farms and equipment, seizure of all means of transportation, including cars, trucks, or vehicles of any kind and total control over all highways, seaports and water ways, and ominously seizure of American people for work forces under federal supervision, including the splitting up of families if the government so desires. This last one is detailed in the Army’s Civilian Inmate Labor Program document. As seen here: http://www.army.mil/usapa/epubs/pdf/r210_35.pdf
Imposing a level 6 would give governments around the world a perfect excuse to impose martial law, even though many scientists believe the H1N1 virus is no more of a threat than seasonal flu.
The Associated Press is reporting Hawaii governor Linda Lingle as saying the World Health Organization is considering raising the pandemic alert level to phase 6, the highest level indicating a global outbreak of the swine flu. Lingle said she discussed the alert level with federal and state health officials on Friday.
Maj. Gen. Robert G.F. Lee, Hawaii’s adjutant general and head of state civil defense, also said the alert level could be changed this weekend.
Meanwhile, on Saturday Mexico lowered its estimated death toll, according to Reuters, revealing an obvious fact — the “pandemic” is mostly hype.
Earlier in the week, WHO said it did not have reason to elevate the alert level from 5 to 6. WHO chief Margaret Chan made the decision Wednesday to raise the alert level from phase 4 — signifying transmission in only one country — to 5 after reviewing the latest scientific evidence on the outbreak.
