Question by maravilla: For the soldiers what do you think of the negative efects of the war in US economy?
We have seen 4 years of war with the US economy in the greatest deficit of his history. Everyday in iraq make more pressure over the US economy. Every day this treasury deficit and the deficit in the international trade made US lose ground against Europe, China, Japan and India. The growth of the US economy is lame if we compare it with India, China and Russia. US is near of the limit, it’s time to cut the social programs too. All wars are economic, social and political struggles too, not only: we do our job, support our troops and the terrorists’re trying to destroy our freedom. what do you think of that? at the same time that you stay in iraq your country is losing the economic war in the world. Are you really disposed to stay in iraq meanwhile the economic disaster is heading to your families in home? I undestand that you recive orders and you have to stay until the polical power in US told you to retreat, you’re a GI (goverment issue just a piece of equipment) you still think
I’ll extend the question to the supporters of their troops, well waste our troops isn’t more correct?

Question by bucket22: What do objective economic studies tell us about cap and trade legislation?
EPA analysis:

“[The bill would] create strong demand for a domestic manufacturing market for these next generation technologies that will enable American workers to serve in a central role in our clean energy transformation;

[It would] play a critical role in the American economic recovery and job growth – from retooling shuttered manufacturing plants to make wind turbines, to using equipment and expertise in drilling for oil to develop clean energy from underground geothermal sources, to tapping into American ingenuity to engineer coal-fired power plants that do not contribute to climate change. ”

Any time you make something more expensive, you get less of it.

Make economic activity more expensive, you get less of it.

Energy makes everything we have… food, computers, entertainment… everything. Make it more expensive, and you’ll have less of it.

So, basically it will screw things up.

Lots of people WANT alternative energy, there just aren’t any that are yet practical. When there is practical alternative energy, I’m sure most of us will eagerly seek it out.

A Look at power equipment maintenance in Options on getting clean power.?

power equipment maintenance:

Power Equipment

Question by mike p: Options on getting clean power.?
I work in maintenance for a small plant that produces candy products. A lot of the electrical wiring is old and has been added onto and changed over the years. My problem exist with portable metal detection devices. These detectors are very sensitive and for the most part work just fine. But at times they are very erratic. My suspicion lies with the power input. When hooked up to a clean dedicated circuit with no other equipment hooked up to the source of power they are very stable. Where they are unstable, the power source may have multiple other pieces of equipment such as conveyors, and start-stop stations, and other things to put surges and transient voltage spikes on the line.
My need is a good reliable device that can be put in-line between the dirty source and my detectors to clean up and isolate from them. In the future I plan on having a dedicated line installed as a power source for them, but now I could use a good, quick, and cheap fix. I know that words like “good”, “quick”, and “cheap” shouldn’t be used together in this case, but at a reasonable cost may be better.
Thanks for any and all suggestions.

Answer by dmb06851
I’m sure that you can find a portable power line filter. Ask the major electrical suppliers in your area.

Or you could make one. A toroidal choke wound to attenuate common mode noise, another to attenuate differential mode noise, and three capacitors, one each across the line at the input another across the line at the junction of the two chokes and another across the output.

Question by pirncess_tracy310: So what do you think about stimulus bill that is going to get pass.?
Remember, this economic stimulus bill is supposed to be used as a catalyst to re-start our economy. Period.

$ 1 billion for Amtrak, which hasn’t earned a profit in four decades.

$ 400 million for research into global warming.

$ 2.4 billion for projects to demonstrate how carbon greenhouse gas can be safely removed from the atmosphere.

Remember, this economic stimulus bill is supposed to be used as a catalyst to re-start our economy. Period.

$ 650 million for coupons to help consumers convert their TV sets from analog to digital, part of the digital TV conversion.

$ 600 million to buy a new fleet of cars for federal employees and government departments.

$ 75 million to fund programs to help people quit smoking.

$ 21 million to re-sod the National Mall, which suffered heavy use during the Inauguration.

Remember, this economic stimulus bill is supposed to be used as a catalyst to re-start our economy. Period.

$ 2.25 billion for national parks. This item has sparked calls for an investigation, because the chief lobbyist of the National Parks Association is the son of Rep. David R. Obey, D-Wisc. The $ 2,25 billion is about equal to the National Park Service’s entire annual budget. The Washington Times reports it is a threefold increase over what was originally proposed for parks in the stimulus bill. Obey is chairman of the House Appropriations Committee.

$ 335 million for treatment and prevention of sexually transmitted diseases.

$ 50 million for the National Endowment for the Arts. $ 4.19 billion to stave off foreclosures via the Neighborhood Stabilization Program. The bill allows nonprofits to compete with cities and states for $ 3.44 billion of the money, which means a substantial amount of it will be captured by ACORN, the controversial activist group currently under federal investigation for vote fraud. Another $ 750 million would be exclusively reserved for nonprofits such as ACORN – meaning cities and states are barred from receiving that money. Sen. David Vitter, R-La., charges the money could appear to be a “payoff” for the partisan political activities community groups in the last election cycle.

$ 44 million to renovate the headquarters building of the Agriculture Department.

Remember, this economic stimulus bill is supposed to be used as a catalyst to re-start our economy. Period.

$ 32 billion for a “smart electricity grid to minimize waste.

$ 87 billion of Medicaid funds, to aid states.

$ 53.4 billion for science facilities, high speed Internet, and miscellaneous energy and environmental programs.

Remember, this economic stimulus bill is supposed to be used as a catalyst to re-start our economy. Period.

$ 13 billion to repair and weatherize public housing, help the homeless, repair foreclosed homes.

$ 20 billion for quicker depreciation and write-offs for equipment.

$ 10.3 billion for tax credits to help families defray the cost of college tuition.

$ 20 billion over five years for an expanded food stamp program.

Remember, this economic stimulus bill is supposed to be used as a catalyst to re-start our economy. Period.

Now how about those earmarks…?

No one should be without a cordless screw gun, in my opinion. Buy one with good battery capacity and which is comfortable in your hand. An extra battery can come in very useful though they are expensive. A really cheap screw gun will only disappoint. A corded drill is useful if you really need a lot of power, like for drilling into brick or metal a lot, they aren’t expensive and will last many years for most people. If you’re cutting a lot of lumber a skil saw or chop saw is good. A compound mitre chop saw is the most useful and very worthwhile because it makes it very easy to cut angles accurately, very useful when building walls. That and the drill or screw gun are really all you need for power tools to build a shed. Jigsaws come in very handy too. Those three–drill/cordless screw gun, chop saw/skil saw, jigsaw, can do 90% of what a normal homeowner does. Don’t buy a nail gun unless you go for the kind that works with a compressor and is very expensive. Few homeowners bother with them. Table saws are useful and nice to have but most of us don’t really need them. Reciprocating saws are handy sometimes for rough cutting.
