Question by john b: What equipment would i need to buy to hook up a microphone that requires phantom power to a computer?
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/MXL-MXL-990-Condenser-Microphone-with-Shockmount?sku=273156 this is the mic. i would like to hook it up to a computer. what else do i need besides this? thanks.
If you can even list actual brands and models for compiling a very cheap, but good sounding recording system that goes with this mic, i will automatically give you the 10 points. if you just want to list items that i would need, theres still hope for a best answer too.

The best way is to get a phantom power supply. The mic. specs. says it requires +48 volts. Make sure the supply can provide the same voltage. The link below leads to one from the same vendor that will do the trick.

Question by christophe: Will a bad power source gradually affect other systems, or will the computer just not start all the sudden?
When your power source goes bad, will you notice other things in your computer starting to perform poorly (such as spotty response from equipment connected to PCI slots) or is it more an “all the sudden” kind of thing, where everything seems to be working and then all the sudden your computer doesn’t turn on one day?

A power supply that is not providing “stable” power can present itself in all manner of ways. Flaky behavior, reboots, crashes, program errors, weird hardware responses, slow performance, hard drive corruption, damage to motherboard, CPU, Drives, memory… It just depends on what is failing in the power supply.

Question by Nojan: Which three cockpit instruments/equipment will get priority in power supply from this emergency system?
In case of engine failure the electrical power supply will also fail. For this an airliner is equipped with emergency power supplies like a ram air turbine and/or a back-up battery.

Question by Ubi: On power transmission line systems, what are these spheres that are attached to the upper lines?
I have noticed a spherical piece of equipment that is attached to the upper lightning arrestor lines of 3-phase transmission line systems. Usually, they are orange and attached directly to the lightning arrestor lines (the line passes directly through the sphere).
*** So, what are these things? How do they work?
Sorry, if I can’t think of a formal name for these devices, but I do want to learn more about them (and as much as I can about power systems in general). Thanks!
edit: Oh, and I have noticed this piece of equipment in my area of the USA. I don’t know if such equipment would be used abroad.

they are indicators for the aviation signals , so aerial traffic people like helicopters and aero planes can easily notice the power lines and keep away from the power lines
