Question by maravilla: For the soldiers what do you think of the negative efects of the war in US economy?
We have seen 4 years of war with the US economy in the greatest deficit of his history. Everyday in iraq make more pressure over the US economy. Every day this treasury deficit and the deficit in the international trade made US lose ground against Europe, China, Japan and India. The growth of the US economy is lame if we compare it with India, China and Russia. US is near of the limit, it’s time to cut the social programs too. All wars are economic, social and political struggles too, not only: we do our job, support our troops and the terrorists’re trying to destroy our freedom. what do you think of that? at the same time that you stay in iraq your country is losing the economic war in the world. Are you really disposed to stay in iraq meanwhile the economic disaster is heading to your families in home? I undestand that you recive orders and you have to stay until the polical power in US told you to retreat, you’re a GI (goverment issue just a piece of equipment) you still think
I’ll extend the question to the supporters of their troops, well waste our troops isn’t more correct?

Question by bucket22: What do objective economic studies tell us about cap and trade legislation?
EPA analysis:
“[The bill would] create strong demand for a domestic manufacturing market for these next generation technologies that will enable American workers to serve in a central role in our clean energy transformation;
”
[It would] play a critical role in the American economic recovery and job growth – from retooling shuttered manufacturing plants to make wind turbines, to using equipment and expertise in drilling for oil to develop clean energy from underground geothermal sources, to tapping into American ingenuity to engineer coal-fired power plants that do not contribute to climate change. ”

Any time you make something more expensive, you get less of it.
Make economic activity more expensive, you get less of it.
Energy makes everything we have… food, computers, entertainment… everything. Make it more expensive, and you’ll have less of it.
So, basically it will screw things up.
Lots of people WANT alternative energy, there just aren’t any that are yet practical. When there is practical alternative energy, I’m sure most of us will eagerly seek it out.

Question by I Believe!: Did you hear about the little nothing of a people who took on the greatest super power the world?
had ever seen, and whipped them?
Yeah you see, the little people, (cant really call them a country cause they were nothing but a bunch of farmers, some merchants, and a few other trades folks) anyway, they went to war, and they fought to win. All the while the supper power did everything by the book, they fought by the rules of war, (what ever they might be) And you know what? This bunch of nobodies, went and beat the most powerful army with the most modern equipment, the words most powerful navy with the best ships money could buy and the best trained soldiers that had every held a gun. Why? Because they fought to win, and the superpower lost the war at home, before they ever surrendered on the battlefield. You see their own people, who were not even in the battle gave up on their own, not of failure on the part of troops, but because they never took the war serious. Now you might be thinking this sounds like what is happening today in Iraq, and you might be right, but it happened before, its world history, you studied it in school, but do you remember who these people where and who they became?

Flow of imports drags down economic growth
Thursday, August 26, 2010
“A widening U.S. trade deficit has become a substantial drag on economic growth as the country’s exports struggle to keep pace with the swelling sums that Americans are again spending on imported goods.
“The rise in the trade deficit, including an abrupt 16 percent spike in June, is a chief reason economists are downgrading estimates for recent U.S. economic growth.
“Officials at Cummins Inc., the Indiana-based engine and power-system maker, say business is booming in such places as China and India, but the new orders for its equipment are largely being met at the firm’s factories outside the United States.
“Almost everything we sell in China is made in China, and those factories are at capacity right now,” spokesman Mark Land said. “The strength in those markets helps us overall, but our manufacturing capacity creates a limited need to export.”

Scotty, Bill Clinton signed NAFTA. You knew that, right?
Enming Mo, CPI drives wages and employment. When wages are low and unemployment is high you WANT higher prices so businesses have more to pay out in wages.
Low prices GUARANTEE low wages. Keep that in mind.

Question by Rocket M: Does anybody have advice on building a go-kart?
I want to make a simple go-kart with a gasoline engine. I have a 3.5 HP Briggs & Stratton motor from an old power washer. We don’t want a high speed racer, just a fun vehicle for goofing around. Least amount of $ out of pocket is a big priority. I am making this for my teenage grandson, so it must be adult-sized. I am a jack of all trades handyman, but DO NOT have access to welding equipment . This could be made out of 2X4s, plywood, metal pipe, whatever. I also need some advice on gearing or direct drive w/ some sort of clutch arrangement. I don’t have any experience in this particular area, so any advice is greatly appreciated. Thnx.

Question by johnny: How much can I get at trade in value for my car?
What my plans are for this month is trade-in my used car, and purchase a new car (2009 Toyota Yaris 4d Hatchback Auto) ~$ 14,000
I used Kelly blue book, and they gave me an estimate, but since my car is in Salvage Title due to theft, the price would definitely go down.
Kelly blue book gave me an estimate of my car being worth at suggested retail value asking price of 4,520 at dealers.
1996 Honda Accord DX Sedan 4D
My used car specifications:
Engine: 4-Cyl. 2.2 Liter
Trans: Automatic
Drive: FWD
Mileage: 181,000
Equipment:
Air Conditioning
Power Steering
AM/FM Stereo
Single Compact Disc
Dual Front Air Bags
Alloy Wheels
I also have slight scratches in the rear and front of the car.
If this is also taken into consideration..
I also just recently gotten my transmission rebuilt 2months ago ($ 1300), new steering wheel gear box 4 months ago($ 400), recently purchased new tires 6 months ago($ 300+), new battery starter 1 month ($ 100)
Basically.. I’m looking to trade in my car, and with the price I can get, and add in my own money to equal $ 2,000 for a down payment
Your thoughts?
Thank you!!

Answer by Joe
Because it salvaged you will probably get jack shit for it. The rebuilt tranny, gear box, tires, and starter won’t matter to a dealer. I would see what the dealer will give you for it. Because you would be buying another car that is a substantial price they may give you something descent for it just to get your business. If that doesn’t work out I would try to sell it out right to a private party. It may take a little longer but you will get more for it.
